Monitoring greenhouse gas emissions by counting the carbon footprint is now becoming an integral part of running a competitive business. Enterprises are faced not only with the requirements of their counterparties, but also with expanded legislative requirements. Disclosure of information on greenhouse gas emissions is an important part of ESG reporting, which is mandatory for thousands of companies in Poland under the CSRD Directive. The analysis of the carbon footprint of the business is also the basis for the development of emission reduction pathways as part of the decarbonisation strategy. As you can see, there are many goals related to carbon footprint analysis — acquiring competence in this area is now becoming a business necessity.
Getting to grips with the materials available on their own and understanding its multifaceted nature can be a challenge for businesses. International standards for carbon footprint calculation, reporting and verification — such as the GHG Protocol or ISO 14064 — are extensive documents. They set out general principles, which should then be referred to the realities of the enterprise in question. Given the difficulties faced by companies, we have prepared a training offer aimed at providing the necessary knowledge in the field of carbon footprint analysis.

It can focus on presenting basic concepts (types of carbon footprint, calculation ranges, range 3 categories, etc.) and calculation details (GHG Protocol standard, ISO 14064), but also cover issues of legal and business requirements and the place of the carbon footprint in the company's strategy (non-financial reporting, decarbonisation, SBTi, etc.). As part of the training, it is possible to carry out a practical part, which through various types of exercises is designed to prepare the participants to perform carbon footprint analyses on their own.

How is the scope of training determined? Does the training include a workshop part?
Each time it is the subject of interviews, in which we specify the needs of the client. Some companies focus on obtaining basic knowledge (e.g. definition, types, scopes) and learning about current legal and business requirements. Others are interested in exploring the details of the calculations and gaining skills through practical exercises. We use a flexible approach oriented to the individual needs of our customers.
Is carbon footprint training tailored to the industry?
Some of the issues raised during the training, e.g. general concepts, principles or requirements of standards, concern all subjects regardless of the field of activity. However, we try to adapt all business contexts and examples to the sector in which the client operates, so as to make it as easy as possible to understand the topic and relate the issues raised to their own industry.
How long does the training take?
This depends, of course, on the established thematic scope. The time in which we present the typical theoretical range is about 4 hours. To this comes the exercises — up to 2 hours.
