The carbon footprint is a way of measuring the impact of an organization or product on the climate. Its size consists of emissions of all greenhouse gases expressed in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2). Today, only some enterprises are obliged to indicate the size of the carbon footprint. In the coming years, more legislation will be introduced to cover even more economic operators. The business environment is also pushing for change. The determination of the carbon footprint is the starting point for the preparation of a company's carbon footprint reduction and management strategy.
— We can safely say that the “carbon footprint” is an area of building the competitiveness of companies not only in Poland, but also in the international arena — says Jakub Włodarczyk, Director of Business Development at VIVERNIO Sp. z o.o. — With this in mind, together with the Prof. Żmijewski Association, we established the Carbon Footprint Management Centre. The aim of the initiative is to provide support to Polish companies in this process.
The task of the newly established Carbon Footprint Management Centre will be to provide broad education and support to both industry organisations and their members in developing strategies and operational activities aimed at sustainable reduction of the Carbon Footprint.
